The above procedure is not however in accordance with the system sanctioned by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury in their letter, No.15494/94, dated the 24th October 1894, of which a copy was forwarded to you in the War Office letter, Natal 2/2098, dated the 4th December 1894, and as considerable quantities of stores will be furnished in the future at the cost of the Colony in connection with this scheme for the provision of additional barrack accommodation, I am to acquaint you that it is proposed to pass the bills for the cost of such stores to the Crown Agents for the Colonies for payment, and I am to suggest that the Colony be requested to arrange for such payments accordingly.
